Italian teams Metamarine Corse and Baia Attolini clinched overall victory at the 2010 Malta Grand Prix of the Sea after winning today’s Endurance Race along the Sliema coast.

There was some disappointment for local powerboat enthusiasts as Aaron Ciantar’s Ukrainian Spirit were only conspicuous by their absence at the weekend after the team lost their race against time to fine-tune the new engines on their Chaudron boat.

In the Evolution class, Metamarine Corse, manned by Marco Pennesi and Gianpaolo Montavoci, improved on their second-place in Saturday’s Sprint race by seizing victory in today’s Endurance race to go top of the world championship standings after two rounds.

Baia Attolini strengthened their grip on top position in the overall standings of the Supersport class after they bounced back from a disappointing fourth place in Saturday’s sprint race – won by Karelpiu – by posting the fastest time in today’s second leg.

The Italian trio of Stefano Acanfora, Renato Guidi and Vittorio Foglia Manzillo stormed to victory in today’s 16-lap Endurance Race after finishing ahead of Britain’s Team 26 and Seagull Ukrainian Spirit.
