Miriam Vella, the wife of President George Vella, has been discharged from hospital after being treated for pneumonia. 

She was admitted to hospital on Tuesday for observation.

A statement from the Office of the President thanked consultants, doctors and the staff of Mater Dei Hospital for their "dedication and support".
