For almost 30 years, I have been making appeals to owners of vintage cars who, like me, would like to see the setting up of a Malta transport museum.

I continue to witness so much enthusiasm, even in recent days, in the Maltese motoring heritage. Thus, it would be worthwhile compiling all available material and information on the topic.

There are individuals who even make financial sacrifices collecting historical motoring items that can be publicly displayed. They should be thanked for their efforts.

Let us who have the motoring heritage at heart, unite and help each other to achieve our aim.

It is worth mentioning that the Touring Club Malta (www.touringclubmalta.com) is a member of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, which has a booklet on museums of historical automobiles that should be viewed by vintage car enthusiasts.

The Maltese motoring heritage can be preserved by those who are aware of the existence of vintage motoring relics that can shed a light on this island’s transport history.

Our children must know about our transport history too, starting from the cart ruts, the Maltese railroad etc.
