A 53-year-old from Sliema was hospitalised on Friday evening following a traffic accident in Regional Road, along the Mrieħel Bypass.

Initial information indicated that a car heading in the Marsa direction from Santa Venera smashed into a pole.

The victim was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and the road was closed to traffic.

The police are investigating.
