The Gozo 360° Multivision show, now in its 10th year of operation at the Citadel Theatres, in Victoria, has been upgraded from the conventional audio-visual multi-projector system to a digital format, the first time this 21st century technology is being used in the Maltese islands.

White Light Pictures Ltd of Birkirkara, which produced the show originally, were again commissioned by the operators, Castle Hill Ltd, to reproduce it digitally and to provide the new digital projectors for it. The projectors can project in the same digital domain already in use in "e-cinemas" in some locations, from Hollywood to Tokyo, and are expected to be used worldwide in the coming years.

This is the first time that a tourist audio-visual attraction, originally presented with slide film projectors, has been converted to the digital format. This has eliminated the problems associated with 35mm slide show presentations which are used in Malta.

Hundreds of transparencies supplied by Promotion Services Ltd were scanned and edited to produce a show that projects the tranquil island of Gozo to the visitor.

The soundtrack has contributed much to the experience. Sound effects were recorded and mixed for the theatre's Dolby Digital System, another first in the tourist attraction business.

White Light Pictures pioneered the now standard multi-lingual system for The Malta Experience almost 20 years ago. White Light Pictures have also been involved in the production of almost all the local audio-visual tourist attractions.
