Nestlé has entrusted GreenPak to recycle thousands of glass jars and plastic lids collected by Nestlé and exchanged for gifts under its Nescafé collectable scheme.
The company is also using the services of GreenDot to ensure that packaging material placed on the market for all the Nestlé products are recycled.
"Nestlé believes in the values of good corporate citizenship and environmental awareness. In Green Dot Malta, we see a partner that can help us achieve these objectives efficiently and reliably," Nestlé Malta's managing director Giorgio Mondoví said.
Green Dot Malta's chief executive officer Mario Schembri said: "Companies like Nestlé, need to be supported with the right infrastructure. GreenPak is prepared to deliver that support not only to transform their good intentions into positive environmental action but also to serve as an encouragement to other companies to take similar initiatives."
Over the past five years, Green Dot Malta has been recycling nearly four million kilos of packaging waste from over 250 member companies. These companies would otherwise lack the infrastructure to recycle their waste according to their legal obligations.
GreenPak is a Mepa-approved, authorised compliance scheme for the recovery of packaging waste in Malta, and serves commercial businesses and local councils.
