John Vella has presented his credentials to President Vaclav Klaus as Malta's Ambassador to the Czech Republic.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday at Prague Castle.

During his visit to Prague, Dr Vella had meetings with a number of senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The talks focused on how ties between Malta and the Czech Republic could be fostered in the tourism, cultural and investment sectors.

The issue of immigration was also brought to the fore and ways to cooperate in the area were discussed.

Dr Vella is non-resident Ambassador to the Czech Republic.
