The Pharmacy Council is re-drafting a code of ethics for the pharmaceutical profession.

The council, which is the regulatory body for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, said the update will take into consideration the changes in the roles and responsibilities as well as the evolving practices of pharmacists.

In re-drafting the code, consideration has been taken of the developments of the pharmaceutical profession to meet the challenges of the third millennium and patients' rights and expectations.

A consultation process is being initiated to discuss the draft code, a copy of which is available in the council's section in the Department of Health's website (Click Statutory bodies - Pharmacy Council).
