Wealthy North Koreans will soon be able to watch on-demand video streaming content, with state broadcaster KCTV unveiling a demo device called 'Manbang' today.
But while Netflix rushes to expand its video library, North Korean Manbang viewers will be limited to watching "documentary films about the leadership and learn Russian and English languages." Subscribers will also be able to access Korean Central News Agency content, Zdnet reported.
Despite its population of 25 million, only a tiny sliver of North Korea's population can hope to make use of the set-top box once it is released. Electricity is restricted to major metropolitan areas, and internet access is even scarcer.
KCTV released a YouTube video (see below) announcing Manbang, including a demo video showing the set-top box's interface.
