G Songs, one of the largest production houses in Sweden, is polishing Malta's entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest to ensure Olivia Lewis has every chance of blowing away the crowd with her rendition of Vertigo.

G Songs had produced Carola's song Invincible which placed fifth during last year's Eurovision in Greece.

It has recommended that Olivia Lewis needs three backing vocalists on stage to create a solid and harmonious backing sound.

Maltasong, which issued a statement yesterday, said the three backing vocalists will, "in all probability", be supplied by the production house itself.

According to the European Broadcasting Union's regulations a total of six people are allowed on stage during the show. It has been decided that apart from the three backing vocalists and Olivia Lewis, the two remaining spots will be occupied by Joseph Chetcuti on the violin and horeographer Jes Sciberras - the two men who were on stage with her on the final night of the local festival. Notwithstanding the need for continuity, Maltasong said that the stage act would also be improved. Sources close to the "Vertigo team" have confirmed that negotiations are underway with a key Eurovision choreographer over the final performance.

Maltasong said it will be communicating an official decision regarding the final set-up of the stage and the entire package shortly.

Moreover, works on the storyboard for the song's music video have started and filming is expected to start on Sunday.

In parallel with all these key decisions, the promotion of the song continues.

Latvia, which is holding its national finals on Saturday, will be showing a video of Olivia Lewis's performance during the Malta Song for Europe Festival.

Ireland will also be screening the video during its finals, while Olivia Lewis herself will be performing in Lithuania and Ukraine.

She will also be flying to Cyprus today to perform in its national finals, after returning from her adventure in Spain, where she was warmly welcomed.

"Spain was a heavenly experience. The stage and set-up were magnificent and the crowd was so warm.

Listening to the applause on stage reminded me of the crowd's reaction in Malta," she said soon after her performance.
