One person has been killed and at least 15 more were injured when two passenger trains crashed in the central Austrian town of Niklasdorf.

A train struck the side of another near the station in the town 40 miles north of the city of Graz, a police spokesman said.

He added that one person was killed and some 15 to 20 people were injured. Rescue crews are at the scene, with the cause of the incident not yet clear.
