I cannot understand why Mepa still allows shop owners to use aluminium or plastic shop signs (those used in the 1990s) which are not up to standard. Apart from creating visual and light pollution, such eyesores could possibly have a negative effect on other shops in the vicinity.

It is unfair on those owners who invest that extra amount of money in order to create a better ambience and embellish our unique village cores. I believe that Mepa or some other authorised bodies should start taking a serious note of such eyesores as these are creating an undesired image of our villages among the Maltese and visiting tourists alike.
