A man suffered grievous injuries after the floor of a private Paola residence caved in beneath him.

The Police said the incident happened at around 3.10pm in Antoine de Paule Square.

The 53-year-old man was given first aid by members of the Civil Protection Department, before being rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
