A 47-year-old woman was seriously injured early on Tuesday afternoon when she was hit and dragged by a car which kept driving on.

The incident happened in Rue D’Argens, Gżira at 1.15pm.

The police said the 47-year-old was seriously injured. She was assisted by a medical team on the scene before being rushed to hospital.

The police could not immediately give a description of the vehicle but investigations are continuing.

Magistrate  Audrey Demicoli is holding an inquiry.

Earlier on Tuesday, a 57-year-old pedestrian was hospitalised after being hit by a car in Birkirkara.

The police said the man was hit by a car in Brared Street at 9.30am.

The car, a Toyota Avensis, was being driven by a 73-year-old man from Marsa.
