Manchester police had to be called after a man somewhat got stuck to a urinal yesterday, according to reports.

The bizarre cry for help came from the public toilets in Manchester city centre after a man’s clothing got snagged on the toilet. The man - who was clearly annoyed by his predicament - was heard swearing to himself while trapped in the toilets at the Town Hall extension on Lloyd Street.

A passer-by heard the man's cries and contacted police, the Manchester Evening News reported.

A city centre police spokesman said: “We were alerted at 8.58am to a call from the loos on Lloyd Street. A distressed male, who was cursing to himself, had become snagged on the urinal.”

It is not understood how the man and his clothes became so entangled - but a security officer was able to rescue the man.

The spokesman added: “He was cut free by security.”
