Over time our values have given us a number of rights. These include the right to grow in our mother’s womb and come out as a newborn baby, the right to have a mate for life through the good times and the bad and the right to live through an illness with dignity without any burdensome choices.
Over time man has amended these rights so that now our mother has a right to get rid of us if we are deemed inconvenient, our mate has a right to sign a paper and break up the family when trouble stirs and if we are unfortunate enough to be afflicted by a chronic medical illness and become a burden on those around us, we have the right to make a choice and end it.
Although fortunately two of these three situations don’t yet apply to Malta, all this has been done in the name of progress!
