The Russian navy recently had another unfortunate submarine disaster with the loss of many lives.
While sympathising with the families of those departed in these two marine incidents, may I suggest to the Russian government to request the Maltese government to make use of the model Disaster of a Submarine by world renowned sculptor Antonio Sciortino (1879-1947) in commemoration of these sad events. Antonio Sciortino is not a new name for Russia.
The Monument to Czar Alexander II of Russia was awarded first prize in an international context. Unfortunately this monument did not materialise due to Sciortino not complying to a technical detail within the regulations.
Notwithstanding, the same statue was purchased personally by the actual Czar in 1911-1912. On another occasion Sciortino was commissioned by the Crimea to do a monument to Anton Pavlovic Cechov (1860-1904).
Unfortunately, due to the Russian revolution of 1926, Sciortino was second time unlucky.
