Salzburg scored two quick-fire goals to see off Hibernians 3-0 at the Red Bull Arena and book their place into the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

The Austrian side broke little sweat to overcome the Maltese champions to complete a 6-0 aggregate win and book a third qualifying round clash against Croatian champions NK Rijeka.

Salzburg were off to a storming start and took just 19 minutes to all but kill off the tie.

They took the lead on 11 minutes when Munas Dabbur’s cross was deflected by goalkeeper Andrew Hogg into the path of Marc Rzatkowksi who easily pushed the ball into the net.

Hibs looked rattled and they conceded again eight minutes later when Fredrik Gulbrandsen latched onto  a long pass and beat Hogg with a firm volley.

From then on, the home side easily administered their advantage and could have easily increased their advantage had it not be for some smart interventions by goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.

Hibs’s only real opportunity came midway through the second half when Jorginho fired wide.

Salzburg did add a third goal five minutes from time when Amadou Haidara chested the ball down before firing a firm drive into the top corner of the net.
