A senior citizen was grievously hurt on Friday morning when he was hit by a car in Fgura. 

The 83-year-old man was walking on Triq San Tumas when he was hit by a Toyota Yaris being driven by a 37-year-old Ħamrun resident at 9.30am. 

An ambulance took the man to Mater Dei hospital, where he is being treated. 

A police investigation is under way.
