Obituary

BARTOLO. On May 14, at her residence, RITA of Hamrun, residing at St Paul's Bay, aged 46, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers and sisters Salvu and his wife Connie, Guzi and his wife Nina, Nazzarenu and his wife Guza, Maryanne and her husband Victor, Alex and his wife Mary, Alessio and his wife Anna, Tessie and her husband Tony, Carmen, Michael and his wife Tania, Twanny and Marie, her nephews and nieces, besides other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish church, Hamrun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

CAMILLERI. On May 10, in Knock, Ireland, MICHEL, widower of Maria, aged 86, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Pio and his wife Ivy and Therese, widow of his brother Antoine, his nephews and nieces and their families, besides other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held in Knock on May 14.
A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said tomorrow at 7.30 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

CASTILLO. On May 14, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, CONNIE, née Bonello, passed away peacefully. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Leslie, her children Mark and his wife Angela, Andrew and his wife Nathalie, and Katrine, her grandchildren Jeremy and his wife Pernilla, Ian and his fiancée Nadine, Martina and her boyfriend Julian, David and his girlfriend Hannah, and Francesca. She also leaves to mourn her loss her great-grandchildren Jamie and Julia, her in-laws Maurice Castillo, Joan Bonello, and Kitty Bonello, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema, will be appreciated. The family wish to thank the doctors and staff at Zammit Clapp Hospital for their care and dedication.

CHETCUTI. On May 14, at St Luke's Hospital, ANTONIA, sive Nina, née Caruana, of Mellieha, aged 56, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her sons Steven, Kenneth and his wife Marita, her grandson Nathan who lost the love of his adoring grandmother at a tender age, her loving parents Anthony and Giovanna, her brothers and sisters Maryanne, Charlie, Joe and Vicky, their spouses and their children, her in-laws and families, other relatives and friends, including her uncle, Fr Nazzareno Caruana, parish priest of Mqabba. May she rest in peace.

Mtarfa Art Exhibition

An exhibition open to all artists residing in Mtarfa will be held at the Mtarfa parish centre between tomorrow and Sunday.

The exhibition will be officially opened tomorrow at 7.30 p.m. by Mgr Prof. Vincent Borg, President of the Catholic Cultural Heritage Commission of Malta and Gozo, and of the Commission for Sacred Art of the Diocese of Malta. On Friday and Saturday, the exhibition will be open between 6 and 9 p.m. and on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. and 3 and 8 p.m.

An open-air painting session open to all artists will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. onwards.

Maternity Fashion Show

The Eden Leisure Group's Mums Club and Smart Cells Malta have teamed up to create a fund-raising maternity and kids' event in aid of Eden Foundation by organising a Funky Mamas Fashion Show at the Eden Cinemas on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

As well as the opportunity to see the latest maternity and child's wear, there will also be parent/child-related stands both exhibiting and selling their goods and providing information on services for parents and children. There will also be face painting for kids and other activities.

Proceeds from the morning's event will go to Eden Foundation.

Students' Campaign

Values Matter is the theme of the latest campaign by Moviment Kattoliku Studenti Universitarji (MKSU), which is taking place at the Quadrangle at University until Friday. The campaign consists of no less than 18 inspirational phrases or quotations intended to encourage every student who reads them to reflect.

Discussion On Sacraments

Fr Frans Abdilla will hold a meeting to discuss the sacraments of Penance and Anointing of the Sick at the parish centre in Balluta tomorrow at 7.15 p.m.

On May 24 there will also be a meeting led by John Formosa about Dun Gorg Preca and the Carmelite Spirituality at the same location at 7.15 p.m.

Malta-Romania Friendship Group

The Malta Cross Corps is planning to set up a Malta-Romania Friendship group after its sister organisation in Romania, 'Serviciul de Ajutor Maltez', showed great interest in this venture.

Hospice Disassociates From Magazine

The Malta Hospice Movement said it is not associated in any way with the publishers, promoters and distributors of the family magazine MIDAS.

The movement has not at any time authorised Patrick Borg to publish any material, nor to sell or collect donations on its behalf. The Malta Hospice Movement said it reserves the right to take legal action against anyone carrying out such unauthorised activities.

Website On EU

A website in Maltese on the EU, which includes polls and forums, was launched yesterday.

Cheryl Micallef-Borg, president of the Young European Federalists Malta, said comments, criticism, suggestions or simply observations gathered through the website would be forwarded to Margot Wallström, vice president of the European Commission.

Drug Abuse Seminar

The Generades Youth Group in collaboration with Sedqa and the Youth Support Programme will run a workshop and seminar entitled Inject Life at the Scout Association Hall, Floriana on May 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The participants will be invited to discuss the social aspects of drug and alcohol abuse with the main focus being young people.

Engineering Conference

Maltacom is sponsoring the Chamber of Engineers' annual general conference entitled Leading The Knowledge Economy being held tomorrow at the Corinthia San Gorg in St Julians.
