International soprano Lydia Caruana has won this year's Bailey's Woman of the Year Award, organised by M. Demajo (Wines and Spirits) Ltd held at the Barrakka Gardens.
The nominees included Angela Galea, Moira Delia and Mariella Scerri.
Ms Caruana has sung with international greats Andrea Bocelli and José Carreras. She recently released her own CD together with celebrity Paul Gulda. She has performed at the International Opera Gala Series in Ireland and has sung in several cities.
The award was presented by Anthony Miceli Demajo, managing director of M. Demajo (Wines and Spirits) Ltd who thanked all involved for their work.
Ms Caruana chose to donate the cash prize to Dar tal-Providenza and to an animal refuge centre.
