An argument between a man and a woman in Marsascala descended into violence on Sunday afternoon, with police dispatched to the scene following reports of a stabbing.

The incident at a house on Triq l-Iskall was reported at around 3.20pm, the police said.  Within minutes, several police officers and an ambulance were at the scene.

A police spokesperson subsequently said that no weapons were found at the site but that both people involved had suffered wounds caused by broken glass. 

Both people involved were taken to Mater Dei hospital for treatment. 

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a woman nursing a wound on her shoulder being escorted into an ambulance by medics.
