A Hamrun man was given a 18-month jail term suspended for three years when he admitted to threatening and slightly injuring a public official.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli heard Anthony Magro, 52, plead guilty to assaulting and injuring Carmel Muscat on December 30 2005. The magistrate noted that Mr Magro had apologised for his actions, had cooperated with the police and filed an early guilty plea.

Police Inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.
