A young teenage girl suffered a serious injury when she slipped and got trapped in the gate of a house front door, the police said.

The accident happened on Tuesday in Bastion Street, Fgura at about 9pm.

The 13-year-old was walking when she slipped and hit the iron gate. Rescuers from the Civil Protection Department were called after she became trapped. 

The girl was taken to hospital.
