Following Pamela Hansen's column aptly titled "Sorry George, but your "war" is not even hard talk!" (The Sunday Times, November 20), take a note of this: a huge tent was erected within the Splash and Fun grounds on October 21 with no permission whatsoever.

An enforcement notice (ECF00939/05) was immediately issued by MEPA and direct action was taken with the police. To date, however, this illegal eyesore is still standing.

There's more: The Sunday Circle Almanac, distributed with The Times on Saturday, November 19, carried an advert promoting a list of "winter activities" to be held "under a big tent" at the Splash & Fun Complex.

So has permission now been granted? Or are the developers so sure of obtaining the necessary permits in the near future? Is this development being given the go-ahead despite previous complaints by the residents of noise pollution, disruption of peace in the neighbourhood and poor traffic management caused by these developments in this area?
