The following are the top stories in Friday’s newspapers.

Times of Malta says the Council of Europe has reported that number of prisoners at Corradino Correctional Facility increased by more than 80% over a period of 10 years. In another story, it says controversial plans for a retirement home in Wied Għomor were blocked for a third time on Thursday when a court refused another appeal by the developer.

The Malta Independent speaks to Simone Cini, the Commissioner for Gender-based and Domestic Violence, who said shelters for victims of domestic violence had taken in many foreign women.

L-Orizzont says the Maltese economy has growth four times the EU average.
