Two foreigners ended up in court today after assaulting the police when drunk in separate incidents early morning.

Briton Michael Gill, 41, currently living in St Paul's Bay, admitted to slightly injuring a taxi driver, resisting and assaulting the police in Paceville.

He was sentenced to a nine-month jail term suspended for two years. He was also ordered to pay the taxi driver €177 to cover damages.

Frenchman Jean Dean, resident in Gzira, admitted to fighting security guards at a nightclub in Paceville. He then resisted the police.
