Video games company 4A Games has announced it will open a new studio in Malta, giving it a foothold in Europe.
The company, known for Metro: Last Light, is based in Ukraine.
The company said that the Malta studio will serve as its new headquarters. Key staff will relocate to Malta, including creative director Andrew Prokhorov and chief technical officer Oles Shishkovstov. It will retain a presence in Ukraine.
"By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage" said CEO Dean Sharpe.
"Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond."
Metro Redux, a PS4 and Xbox One re-release of both the original Metro 2033 and sequel Metro: Last Light, is expected to be formally unveiled within the next few weeks.
