May I express my deep satisfaction for the public notice, dated August 26, 2008, notifying that the planning authority has included Villa Macedonia and surrounding gardens in Sisner Street, Balzan, on the list of scheduled properties (as per Government Notice No. 628/08 in Government Gazette No. 18283, dated July 21, 2008).

I am sure that this was very welcome news to the residents of Balzan, especially those who were born and bred in this village. This villa, and the surrounding gardens planted with ornamental and citrus trees, was built by the late Count Bernardo Manduca Piscopo Macedonia Zamitt (1891-1971) in 1934 as his personal residence, and has played an important role in the social and cultural life of the village community throughout the lifetime of this noble benefactor of Balzan.

Well done, Mepa. Indeed a breath of fresh air in this hot summer.
