The VIVA World Cup 2010 will be played at the Gozo Stadium between next Monday and June 6.

Bank of Valletta is supporting the tournament, organised by the New Federation Board, an umbrella association for nations unaffiliated with FIFA.

Padania, Iraqi Kurdistan, Provence, Occitania, Regno delle Due Sicilie and hosts Gozo will be vying for the men's cup.

Gozo and Padania will play in the women's tournament as well.

The VIVA World Cup 2010 was officially launched at the BOV head office in Sta Venera, yesterday.

"We are delighted to hold the 2010 edition of the VIVA World Cup," Alvin Grech, the Gozo FA president said.

"Gozo was competing with Padania and Kurdistan to host this tournament. Two main philanthropic organisations, Arka and Oasi Foundations, will benefit from the gate-money."

In the opening round of matches on Monday, Kurdistan play Regno delle Due Sicilie at 5.30 p.m. and Gozo play Padania at 8.15 p.m.
