Anyone coming forward with information about "the network of criminality at Castille" would be guaranteed full protection under a Nationalist administration, PN leader Simon Busuttil said this morning.

Speaking in Sliema, Dr Busuttil said he did not believe Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, who yesterday told delegates at the Labour Party's Annual General Conference that neither he nor any of his immediate family had any offshore interests

Dr Busuttil said his counterpart had contradicted himself when pushed to say who owned Egrant Inc, a company named in Panama Papers-leaked emails.

"First he said it was [Nexia BT director] Brian Tonna's, and then he said he doesn't know whose it is. Brian Tonna works in his own office. The Prime Minister had an entire year to ask him who owned the company," Dr Busuttil said.

The PN leader said anyone with information about the secretive offshore company or any transactions related to it should come forward "in the national interest".

Prime Minister reiterates denial

Dr Muscat today continued to strongly deny that he or any of his family members ever had any offshore interests.

Blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia alleged last week that large sums of money were transferred to Panama companies owned by Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri, as well as to Egrant Inc. Both men have denied the claims.

Asked by the Times of Malta how his declarations on offshore companies could be taking seriously after he allowed Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri to keep their positions, Dr Muscat instead took aim at this paper.

“As seriously as your publishing house can be taken for advocating transparency and not publishing its own report,” Dr Muscat said.

The Prime Minister was referring to an internal inquiry into graft allegations involving his chief of staff and The Times of Malta’s former managing director Adrian Hillman.

Asked if he could understand why such rumours had gained traction given Dr Mizzi’s and Mr Schembri’s offshore holdings, Dr Muscat again said this paper should publish the Hillman report.
