A well-known journalist who did not mince her words, Ms Caruana Galizia was known for her investigative journalism and uncompromising blog Running Commentary.
Ms Caruana Galizia began her work as a journalist in 1987 as a columnist with The Sunday Times of Malta and subsequently as associate editor of The Malta Independent. More recently, she served as a columnist with The Malta Independent and editor of Taste&Flair magazine.
It was her personal blog, however, which brought her the most public attention.

The blog, which was one of the most widely read websites in Malta, achieved notoriety with a mix of investigative reporting and commentary on political opponents, often labelled as personal attacks and which saw her embroiled in a number of legal battles.
In 2016, she was named by Politico as one of “28 people who are shaping, shaking and stirring Europe”, after being the first to break news of Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri’s involvement in the Panama Papers leak, a subject which dominated her reporting in the year that followed.
A year later, she alleged that the Panama company Egrant was owned by Michelle Muscat, wife of the Prime Minister, allegations which eventually triggered the general election in June.
While most known as a vociferous opponent of the Labour Party, she emerged since the June general election as a harsh critic of the new Opposition leader Adrian Delia.
