Former Malta captain Carmel Busuttil made his debut as coach of Sta Lucija Net Stars on Tuesday night at the Centenary Stadium with a close 2-1 win over Siggiewi.

Busuttil, who also runs the Buzu Soccer School, took over at the Division Three club last month.

Thanks to their victory, Sta Lucija are now only three points behind top team Sta Venera who lead the championship standings with 13 points from five matches.

Josef Mansueto opened the score for the Saints in the first half but Eman Ciappara equalised on 63 minutes.

The Sta Lucija winner came six minutes from time when Liam Cutajar hit home after a swift counter-break for Buzu's team who play Kirkop next on December 8.
