The monument in honour of sculptor  and statuarian Agostino Camilleri, known as Wistin, has been relocated to his hometown in Victoria on the initiative and collaboration of Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana, the Gozo Culture Committee and the Eco Gozo Directorate. The move also marks the 40th anniversary of Camilleri’s death in 1979.

The monument, the work of Alfred, one of Agostino’s sons, was originally located at the then Wistin Camilleri Centre for Arts and Crafts in Għajnsielem on December 18, 2009.

Among those present for the inauguration event were Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana, Unesco Permanent Ambassador Mgr Dr Joe Vella Gauci, director Eco Gozo Vicky Xuereb, Gozo Culture Committee chairman Frank Cassar and Agostino’s children Paul, Alfred, Catherine, Mario and Michael and their families.
