A 57-year-old woman was grievously injured when she was hit by a car in Swieqi.

The police said the accident happened in Triq il-Ħemel at 4.30pm.

The woman, who is from Swieqi, was hit by a Toyota Vitz that was being driven by a 26-year-old woman from San Ġwann.

She was given first aid by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

The police are investigating.
