A 59-year-old woman was grievously injured on Tuesday when her car overturned on the Ring Road surrounding Mater Dei Hospital and the University.

The police said the accident happened at 2.20pm.

The woman, who is from Ħamrun, lost control of the Toyota Starlet she was driving and this overturned.

The Civil Protection Department had to be called to help take the woman out of the car.

Her condition is not yet known.
