Norman Lowell said this afternoon that he might "just surpass" the votes garnered by Alternattiva Demokratika in the European Parliament elections.

Alternattiva Demokratika had been around for 20 years and knew how to play the media very well, he said, while his Imperium Europa had been ignored and treated shabbily.

AD is expected to win around 2.3 percent of the vote, compared to 9.33 percent in 2004. Mr Lowell himself won 1,603 votes in 2004.

"Our little flag is still flying but we cannot be too cheerful" he said, adding that the people had, like a flock of sheep, voted for discredited politicians like Simon Busuttil who had wasted four years without getting results on burden-sharing.
