With the Ħondoq ir-Rummien controversy now raging, I came across this old photograph in my archives taken at a time when the quarry was in full swing. From the quality of the original photograph, which is not dated, I presume it was taken during the excavations to supply rock for the Valletta breakwater at the dawn of the 20th century.
