Driver ‘attacked’ after traffic accident

A taxi driver who allegedly ran over a migrant in Blata l-Bajda was attacked by the immigrant’s two friends who ended up getting arrested, witnesses said.

The accident occurred at about 4.45 p.m. yesterday when three migrants were crossing the road and one was hit by the taxi driver who was heading in the direction of Blata l-Bajda, according to a witness. The taxi, a BMW, ended up with a smashed windscreen.

The victim’s two friends allegedly attacked the taxi driver and another man who was driving behind him and who had called the ambulance for assistance, witnesses recounted.

The two migrants were later arrested while their injured friend was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
