The car park - spread on two levels - has been built close to the aviation museum, on a site formerly occupied by a concrete factory.

It is free for the public to use and has been equipped with fire prevention, detection and fighting technology.

Bonett said the parking facility formed part of the transport plan Malta in Motion and is the first of others in towns that are connected through the park-and-ride network.
