Spazju Kreattiv continues with its film screenings tomorrow with The Season in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger.

This documentary is a meditative collection of four films which explore the life and work of one of the most influential figures of our time.

Berger is the author of many groundbreaking works, including Ways of Seeing, A Seventh Man and Pig Earth. He is a writer and intellectual who inspired generations of artists.

Based on the rhythms of the seasons that defined Berger’s life after his move to the Alpine village of Quincy in 1973, each piece treats different aspects of the storyteller’s life in the Haute-Savoie.

Each film stands on its own but combines to form a full feature film. The works are original, provocative and distinctly cinematic.

These works treat their textual and artistic influences in a way that offers a multilayered portrait of the intellectual – one that succeeds in celebrating the man, his art and his environment.

This five-year project by Tilda Swinton, Colin MacCabe and Christopher Roth is produced by the Derek Jarman Lab, Birkbeck, University of London, in collaboration with the composer Simon Fisher Turner.

The Season in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger is being screened at St James Cavalier, Valletta, tomorrow at 7.30pm; on Saturday, September 16, at 8.30pm; and on Friday, September 22, at 8.30pm. For more information and tickets, log on to www.kreattivita.org.
