The Pottermore project was unveiled after J. K. Rowling sent fans a series of clues and coordinates to be entered at secretstreetview.com. These clues and coordinates spelled out the name Pottermore.

For now, the website www.pottermore.com is still a closed project, accessible only to a lucky few. However, you can register your interest to be alerted when the website is fully launched.

Pottermore will contain extensive new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved series and also new reading material, including an online shop where registered users can purchase Harry Potter eBooks, new illustrations, and interactive moments which allow users to move through the chapters and experience places like Hogwarts and Diagon Alley.

“I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new digital generation,” Rowling said when launching Pottermore.

“I hope fans and those new to Harry will have as much fun helping to shape Pottermore as I have.”

Pottermore will be fully launched this October, with registration opening on July 31, Harry’s birthday. On the launch day, Pottermore will also feature an online challenge rewarding the first million people to register with early beta-testing access to Pottermore.

So have your wands ready, aspiring wizards and witches.
