Roderick Galdes, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, yesterday visited the Delicata Winery to mark the opening of the harvest pressing season of grapes.

Mr Galdes said the wine industry in Malta was very important and went back some 3,000 years.

He urged wine producers to promote and be proud of their products which were made entirely in Malta.

He encouraged them to also give particular attention to endemic grape varieties such as the girgentina and ġellewża as these were typically Maltese.
