A 26-year-old woman who lives in a car has been jailed for 28 months after stealing sunglasses and soft drinks from a vehicle in Msida last Wednesday and ignoring a probation order.

Sandra Grixti, from Żurrieq, who has a drug problem, had already been convicted of three other cases of theft so far this year.

Magistrate Aaron Bugeja said the woman needed help.

But he could not ignore her other convictions. She had been placed on a three-year probation order but did not take the opportunity to reform. She had not even met her probation officer.

Ms Grixti was placed under a treatment order to overcome her psychological and drug addiction problems.
