ADPD campaign slogan announced

ADPD has joined other political parties in unveiling its campaign slogan for the upcoming general election on May 30.
The Green Party will campaign under the slogan Ilkoll ("All of us"). Unlike slogans released by other parties, ADPD's was released without an accompanying subheading.
The slogan is set against a mostly green background – in a seeming nod to the party's environmentally-focused platform – featuring a yellow graphic of a flower bearing the party's name.
The party focused on democratic and economic grievances in a statement announcing the slogan, while pledging to focus its campaign on “Community. Cooperation. Ecology. Sustainability.”
The Green Party slogan follows similar announcements from the two main political parties yesterday and Momentum, which unveiled its own slogan earlier on Tuesday morning.
Emphasising the impact of civil society on the functioning of democracy, ADPD said democratic participation was “not reduced to a vote every four or five years”, and that democracy had been shaped by societies, individuals and parties such as its own.
“If you look at these [democratic] spaces, you find they have been a cry, one after another, for the narrow interests of the privileged — those who find the path cleared because they curry favour with power — to be broadened to include the common good.”
On the economy, the party stressed that high Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a benchmark of economic growth that has been repeatedly referenced by the Labour Party in support of its economic track record, was “not enough”.
“Running an economy that only looks as far as its nose will fail us”, the party said. “Wealth that remains concentrated in the hands of a few is injustice. To boast about the country we will leave to our children — when it is not worthy — is a grave wrongdoing.”
It said it had consistently spoken out about the need for wealth to be distributed fairly across society, while emphasising that economic decisions should “not look only at the immediate, but also to the future”.
In apparent criticism of bipartisanship, ADPD said the country’s human resources should be fully utilised, “not just half of it depending on who is in government”.
Meanwhile, planning decisions should consider community wellbeing, “not the frenzy of profit”, it said.
The Green Party said its vote should carry equal weight, “not less than that of those who bankroll parties into parliament”, and emphasised the right of young people to access the property ladder. That our young people should have the same right to a roof over their heads as anyone else.
