Dun Karm Psaila, Boys' Secondary School, Żebbuġ, which forms part of St Ignatius College, recently organised an Animal Awareness Day to promote love and respect towards animals.

The day started with Fr Alfred Agius blessing animals brought to the school and the students viewing charts about animals put up in the school foyer. Moira Delia, a renowned personality well-known for her love towards animals, delivered a speech to the students about their duty to respect and love all animals.

Rennie Scicluna from the Malta Falconry Centre brought a live eagle to the school for the students to appreciate. He spoke to the students about the various types of eagles at the centre, adding that the centre also offers rehabilitation to injured birds, and when they are capable of hunting on their own they are returned to the wild.

The day proved to be a wonderful opportunity to instil in the school students some very important values, including love and care for animals, and the realisation that animals too have rights.
