Appreciation: Dolindo Cassar
He was tireless in his voluntary work and community service in Gozo
It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of Dolindo Cassar, a man who left a lasting mark through his service, voluntary work and commitment to the social and cultural life of Gozo. I had the privilege of working alongside him when he served as the first executive secretary of the Għajnsielem local council.
I volunteered during the first legislature following the establishment of local councils in 1994 and later during its second legislature. During those years, I witnessed first-hand his professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to public service.
We also worked together for many years within the Gozo Journalists’ Association, a friendship and collaboration rooted in our shared involvement in journalism, which dates back to 1970. He firmly believed in the value of responsible journalism and in the positive contribution that the media can make to society.
Dolindo was tireless in his voluntary work and community service. He was particularly devoted to the La Stella Philharmonic Society and the Astra Theatre, to which he generously gave his time, energy, expertise and support. His contribution to the cultural life of Gozo will be remembered with gratitude and appreciation.
He was a man blessed with many talents and admirable qualities. The gifts he possessed were shared generously with all those who sought his guidance, assistance or friendship. Through his example, he helped foster a society that was more humane, more civilised and more deeply rooted in Christian values.
I shall remember him with great respect, gratitude and appreciation for all the good he accomplished throughout his life. My sincere condolences go to his wife Georgina and all his family, friends, colleagues and all those whose lives were enriched by his friendship and service. His memory will remain a source of inspiration to many.
May the Lord grant him eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
