Father and son died instantly from Ġnejna boat propeller injuries, autopsy shows

A father and son killed in a boating incident early on Sunday died instantly after being struck by a fishing boat's propellers, an autopsy has found.
Gregory O’Brien, 43, and his five-year-old son Logan were on a dinghy off Ġnejna Bay when they were struck by a fishing boat steered by a 43-year-old Rabat man.
They had boarded the dinghy from a larger boat offshore.
The collision happened at 1am on Sunday. Civil Protection officials recovered their bodies shortly afterwards.

Tributes have poured in for Gregory O’Brien and Logan.
The father operated a boat yard in Xemxija and was well known in the local boating community.
Meanwhile, Logan’s primary school in St Paul’s Bay described him as a valued member of the school family.
Magistrate Joe Mifsud is leading an inquiry into the incident.
Transport Malta is also investigating whether any navigational safety issues contributed to the collision, Times of Malta is informed.
