A good fairy tale, besides having an interesting story line, must have a strong element of plausibility or at the very least keep the reader wondering if the story told was in fact true.

The Labour Party`s propaganda machine about the EU is one big fairy tale, except that it has no such redeeming features. It is the crudest propaganda imaginable, based on concealment of inconvenient facts, and on half truths. Time and again the Nationalist Party has had to refute the distortions and fairy tales invented by the Labour Party`s propaganda machine against the EU.

Even the Malta Information Centre, whom the Labour Party deride as a tool of the government, has had to contradict the threadbare spin put out by the MLP. The Labour Party`s spin lacks credibility because it puts forward the view that everything about the EU is no good for Malta. Unlike the MIC which in its Q & A booklet even goes so far as to criticise this government and to list the disadvantages of joining the EU. The Labour Party`s spin has no such balance.

It is anti everything about the EU. Surely, there must be something of benefit for our islands as it has proved for the other EU members, especially as no one seems to want to leave the Union, but that many want to join.

There are two ways to spin a yarn: the Wartime BBC way and the Nazi Dr Goebbels` way. The former believed in a policy of stating the facts and the truth. This method allowed the clever BBC to slip in an important lie when it suited them. The Nazi way was to repeat a lie countless times expecting it would eventually be believed.

I know now whom to believe.
