Transport Malta should be congratulated on the opening of the islands’ first coast railroad.

An off-key and unsynchronised Requiem marks the reopening of this littoral. Ill-fitted manhole covers, rattling and jingling with every vehicle passing by, drive the coast road residents completely insane; kdeng, four times over a distance of 10 metres, 24/24.

Transport Malta went cheap.

Manholes should be accessible in emergencies only and, therefore, could be disguised underneath the asphalt instead of integrated in the top layer.

Or else, manholes should be installed with proper fitted covers instead of bent grid.

Furthermore, these manholes could have easily been placed alongside the road instead of in the middle but that, of course, would have been an additional few metres of pipeline.

‘Best is cheapest’ and someone responsible in this matter should stand up and solve this sheer shame example of road construction.
